      My grandmother and mother made these every summer when beet leaves were in season. I’m not sure which part of the Ukraine the original recipe is from, but I believe it’s a Ukrainian recipe.

        Thanks, I learned a lot making this first batch. Not as beautiful and consistent as yours but ohhhh are they ever good! Yes they are indeed genuine Ukrainian – western Ukraine I’m sure. I’ll send a photo on facebook.
