About Me

Hi! My name is Laura and I hope that you will join me in my kitchen and share a cup of coffee while we take some time to get to know each other, so that soon we are old friends.  I hope that we can share, not only recipes and tips, but also secrets, hopes, dreams, struggles, wisdom (or lack thereof), and laughs, and that we can learn from each other along the way.

I believe in eating as naturally as possible using fresh, quality ingredients, and making things the “old-fashioned” way by keeping food close to its original source, made from scratch, so that it tastes homemade.  It’s not always easy or even possible, but it’s a journey and a process.

My husband and I have been together for more than half of my life. We have three children and we reside in the beautiful and picturesque Canadian prairies where the sun shines bright and the Aurora Borealis lights up the night sky.

    Been making whipped shortbread for years (recipe from Best of Bridge red book) but have never piped it, so that brought me to your recipe. Your post had the word “shit” in it and I thought “Well, this is the website for me!” And you’re Canadian. So it’s a win, win. Thanks for your tips. And I always use red and green glace cherries. The family would revolt if I didn’t.
